About the project
Problem
In an increasingly globalized world, the complexities of immigration law are a growing concern for both businesses and families seeking to navigate the legal landscape of the United States. Rehling Law, a distinguished law firm specializing in immigration law, recognized the need for a user-friendly and informative website that simplifies the often-confusing process of obtaining visas, green cards, and naturalization. The current online presence of the firm fails to reflect its expertise and the depth of services it provides, leaving potential clients overwhelmed and unsure of where to begin their immigration journey.

User Survey
User Survey
To kickstart the project, a thorough user research survey was conducted to understand the challenges and pain points faced by individuals and businesses in the immigration process. The survey targeted a diverse range of participants, including entrepreneurs, HR professionals, families, and individuals looking to live, work, or study in the US. The insights gathered from this research would help tailor the website's content and features to meet the specific requirements of these users, ensuring that the digital experience is both helpful and engaging.
Competitor Analysis
A competitor analysis was performed to evaluate the online presence of other immigration law firms. This analysis focused on identifying industry best practices, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of competitors' websites, and uncovering opportunities for R. Law to stand out. The findings revealed that while some competitors offered comprehensive services, many lacked the personal touch and user-centric approach that R. Law is known for. This informed the decision to prioritize clear information, accessible resources, and a human-centered design in the new website.
Personas
Based on the user research survey, three primary personas were developed to represent the target audience:
1. The Ambitious Entrepreneur: A foreign business owner seeking to expand operations to the US and require guidance on obtaining work visas and setting up a legal entity.
2. The Growing Family: A couple with diverse nationalities aiming to live and work in the US permanently and seeking assistance with family-based immigration and naturalization.
3. The HR Professional: A corporate employee tasked with managing the immigration process for international employees, in need of reliable and efficient legal support.
User Interview
To gain deeper insights, user interviews were conducted with individuals who have recently undergone the immigration process or are currently navigating it. These interviews highlighted the importance of clear communication, transparency in legal fees, and the need for a seamless and supportive experience. The feedback from these interviews was instrumental in shaping the website's content strategy and feature set.
Tree Jack Survey
A Tree Jack survey was employed to test the website's information architecture (IA). Participants were asked to complete tasks based on hypothetical scenarios, such as finding information on specific visa types or scheduling a consultation. The survey results helped to identify any potential issues with the navigation and content structure, ensuring that the final IA would be both logical and user-friendly.
Information Architecture
The new information architecture was designed to be intuitive and straightforward, with a clear hierarchy of content. It includes dedicated sections for business immigration, family immigration, and naturalization, each with sub-sections detailing the various services and processes. A comprehensive FAQ and resource center provide additional support, making it easy for users to find the information they need.
The Solution
New Modern Interface
The design team proposed a sleek and modern interface that reflects the firm's professionalism and expertise. The color palette is composed of blues and whites, evoking trust and authority, while the typography is clean and easy to read. The layout features a combination of text, images, and interactive elements to create a visually appealing and engaging user experience.
Responsive Design
Understanding that users may access the website from various devices, the design was developed with a responsive approach, ensuring that the content and functionality are optimized for desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. This enhances the overall user experience and ensures that critical information is always accessible, regardless of the device used.
The New Design System
To maintain consistency throughout the design process, a style tile and UI kit were created. These included the color palette, typography, button styles, form elements, and other interactive components. This visual guide served as a foundation for the wireframing and prototyping phases, ensuring that the final website would be cohesive and on-brand.
Wireframes
A series of wireframes were developed that serve as the blueprint for the website's Wireframes were developed for each page of the website, outlining the layout and basic structure without the distraction of visual design elements. This allowed the team to focus on user flow and functionality, ensuring that the website would be easy to navigate and that all necessary information was presented in a logical manner.
Prototypes
Interactive prototypes were then built using the wireframes, enabling stakeholders and potential users to interact with the website's layout and provide feedback on usability. This iterative process ensured that the final design would meet the needs of the target audience and facilitate a smooth user experience.
Summary
The redesign of R. Law's website aims to streamline the immigration process for businesses and families, providing them with a reliable and supportive online resource. By focusing on user needs, leveraging the latest design and development practices, and incorporating a modern and responsive interface, the website will stand out in the competitive immigration law market. Through a combination of engaging content, intuitive navigation, and a user-centered approach, R. Law's digital presence will become a beacon of clarity in the complex world of immigration law.
